Two Rangers Named to 2022-23 All-GAC Teams

SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA - The Great American Conference completed their annual Awards Banquet Wednesday evening before the opening of the conference tournament starting Thursday afternoon. Northwestern Oklahoma State was rewarded from two individuals being named to all conference teams for the past 2022-23 basketball season.

These two players were Malik Parsons, and Brian Free. Parsons was named to the ALL- GAC first team while Free was named to the Honorable Mention ALl-GAC team.

Parson finished the season first in scoring per game at 24.8 points per game following a 45 point performance setting the new record for most points in a single game by a Ranger basketball player. The San Diego native was one of two conference players this season to score 600 points total for the season and one of two players to average over 20 per game. Parsons was eighth overall this season in assists per game with 3.3 and 10th in Assist/ Turnover ratio. Parsons also set a new school record for most free throws in a season for the Rangers with 160. His 160 led the conference and was the only one to make over 150.  Defensively Parsons was seventh in the conference in steals per game at 1.6 with 41 overall on the year. 

Free finished the season 17th overall in the conference in scoring with 13.3 points per game as one of the leagues best shooters. He was second in the league with most three pointers made this season with 81 just one of two players to make at least 80 on the season and tied for first per game averaging 3.1 each game. The Ranger guard was 11th in assists per game with 2.8 with a total of 73 for the season. Free was eighth in the league in steals per game at 1.5 for the season one of three Rangers in the top 10.
