ALVA, OKLAHOMA - As the Ranger Track & Field team continues to have a lot of success this season the program was rewarded as Valerie Nzeakor earned conference athlete of the week for her performance in Canyon, Texas at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi meet hosted by West Texas A&M.
Nzeakor was named Gac Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the Great American Conference. This awards are announced each week.
Nzeakor competed in four events over the weekend which included the long jump, the 100 and 200-meter dashes and the 4x100 relay.
In the long jump she finished with a best mark of 6.00 meters earning a fifth place finish overall in the meet for Long Jump along with setting the new school record for this event.
The Collin, Texas native currently ranks 15th best in America for Division II in the long jump. Her mark of 6.00 meters also makes her an NCAA DII Provisional Qualifier which is the first in school history.
Ranger Track & Field will compete in the Bethel College meet on Saturday, April 15th in the one day meet as the team continues to get set for the conference meet on May 4th through May 6th.
