Women's Track and Field Completes Meet Hosted by Southern Nazarene

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Track and Field team were in Norman this weekend for a meet hosted by Southern Nazarene on the campus of University of Oklahoma. In total the Rangers set three school records. These were Shackera Douglas in the 60 meter, Sophia Kenyon in the weight throw, and Cadence Long-Torres in the mile run.

The Rangers had 11 athletes competing in the weight throw event. Northwestern was led by Sophia Kenyon with her best throw being 13.28m. She was one of three in the top 20 for the Rangers as Hannah Appleton was next placing 16th at 12.59m and Kaylan Swindle at 11.31m placing 20th overall.

In the Women's Shot Put the Rangers were led by Hannah Appleton placing 18th in the group finishing with a throw of 10.48m being her best in the afternoon. She was one of three Rangers in the top 30 in the shot put event as Emmalee Osborn had a throw of 10.11m followed by Chloe Grusing with a throw of 9.35m.

Next for the Rangers was the long jump in which Northwestern was represented by two athletes as Maryam Dianka finished with a 4.66m which was good for 22nd overall followed by Asia Hicks with a 4.07m jump placing 28th overall in the long jump. 

Maryam Dianka was the lone representative for the Rangers in the triple jump placing 15th overall in the event after a mark of 10.22m. 

Shackera Douglas paced the Rangers in the 60 meters as she placed third overall following a time of 7.69 on her run. The 7.69 was the new school record for Rangers in the 60 meters event. In total the Rangers had nine runners compete in this event with four placing in the top 25 as Brianna Brantley ran with a time of 8.12, Diamond Hilton ran a 8.15, along with Darianne Thompson matching the 8.15 all placing in the top 25. 

In the mile run the Rangers were paced by Cadence Long-Torres placing in the top 10 with a 10th place finish with a time of 5:49.23. The other three for the Rangers were all top 30 as Asia Williams finished 14th with a time of 6:00.25,  Harley Woody 23rd and Kayhla Talavera 26th overall.

The 200 meters the Rangers had a first place finish in Shackera Douglas placing first by .21 as she finished with a 26.17 and second place at 26.38. Douglas was one of five runners in the 200 meter run. Diamond Hilton placed 14th in the event with a time of 27.41. Shakira Lane placed 17th in the event with a time of 27.65 followed by Darianne Thompson's time of 27.99 in 22nd place and Haley Combs 25th with a time of 28.45.

Renaja Engermann placed fourth in the 400 meters with a final time of 1:02.04. This was followed by the 800 meter event where Cadence Long Torres placed ninth for the Rangers with a time of 2:35.50 and was joined by Harley Woody in the top 20 as Woody placed 16th with a time of 3:00.98.

The 3000 meters Northwestern was led by Asia Williams with a time of 11:51.68 one of three runners to compete in the event along with Elizabeth Dorado and Reina Gonzales all placing in the top 20 for the event.

The pole vault Olivia Saner placed 12th overall in the event with her best mark of 2.61m for the event. 

The final event the 4x400 relay Northwestern placed fifth overall in the event with a time of 4:19.46 which was run by Renaja Engermann, Haley Combs, Diamond Hilton, and Brianna Brantley.
