LAWTON, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Track and Field team opened the season with their first meet in the Aggie Duels hosted by Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. The Rangers placed sixth overall in the Cross Country meet out of eight teams.
"Jamaira led the way for the Lady Rangers finishing the 5K in 19:14. That time led to her breaking the school record. The Women's Team put on a good showing and at a better start than they were last year. This is a wonderful team and I am looking forward to the meets a head of us. Many women ran personal records for the 5K" stated Sterlin Broomfield head coach of the Cross Country team.
The Rangers led by Jamaira Ross placed 14th overall in the meet with a final time of 19:14.90. Ross was followed by Cadence Long after finishing with a time of 19:41.17 which finished in 26th overall.
Ava Miller was third for the Rangers and 37 overall in the meet after running a final time of 20:30.84 in the meet. Next for the Red-and-Black was Ella Bernadez with a 55th place finish and a time of 11:40.25.
The next four finishers for the Rangers were all in the 64-69 range with four of the six spots as Azucena Carillo, Elizabeth Dorado, Reina Gonzalez, and Jamie Torres. Azucena was 64th after a time of 22:44.96, followed by Dorado at 22:52.19 in 66th, Gonzalez placed 68th overall with a time of 23:03.89. Jamie Torres ran a 23:11.75.
Angelica Robledo finished 75th in the meet with a time of 23:52.32. Claire Dodds and Emma Dodd placed 80 and 82 with times of 27:24.87 and 27:53.15.
Rangers will return to action on September 14th in Newton, Kansas for the Muthama-Rogers Invitational hosted by Bethel College.
