ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Basketball team (6-7, 3-4 GAC) is on the road closing out a two game road trip in Arkadelphia. The trip will end against Henderson State (10-3, 6-1 GAC) at the Duke Wells Center. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM versus the Reddies.
This will be the 23rd meeting against Henderson State and the 12th meeting in Arkadelphia. In the last 10 meetings against Henderson State the Reddies lead 6-4. The Rangers are 3-8 against the Reddies in Arkadelphia. The two teams split the season series a year ago both taking care of home court. Henderson State won the meeting in Arkadelphia 96-88.Â
Northwestern looks to snap a two game losing streak after dropping the last two to Oklahoma Baptist 74-52 followed by Ouachita Baptist 81-70 both on the road.Â
The last game for the Rangers in the loss to Ouachita Baptist the Rangers were led by Max Alexander scoring 33 points one of two double figure scorers. This was the third time he hit the 30 point mark and the 12th in double digits. Camron McDowell was the other with 23 points.Â
The Rangers are led by Camron McDowell and Max Alexander averaging 24.7 points and 24.0 points. McDowell is second in the conference in scoring and seventh overall in Division II, as Alexander is 3rd in the conference and 10th overall. On top of scoring Alexander leads the team in assists at 4.5 per game which is fourth in the conference per game. Tshibangu is third in the conference in offensive rebounds per game with 2.6.
Defensively Kabeya Tshibangu has 12 blocks and 12 steals on the season as he leads the team in blocks. Camron McDowell and Max Alexander lead the team in steals with 22 and 21 on the season. Tshibangu leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game followed by Justin Norris at 5.3 per game.
The Rangers continue to lead the nation in free throw percentage at 82.7% on the season and are first in the conference in free throws made. Northwestern is second in the conference in turnovers forced per game at 15.83.Â
HENDERSON STATE REDDIES:
Henderson State is 10-3 on the season with a 6-1 record tied for first in the conference. Henderson State is on a three game win streak with wins over Southern Arkansas, Arkansas Monticello and most recently Southwestern Oklahoma StateÂ
In the win over Southwestern on Thursday the Reddies were led by Rondae Hill with 18 points one of five double figure scoring players with Nehikhare Igiehon second with 15 points. Finished the game shooting 56.5% from the field, and a 71.8 mark in the second half.
Henderson State has three players scoring double figures in a spread out scoring offense as Igiehon is the leading scorer at 13.2 followed by Matthew Mayes and Deazhon Perkins. Matthew Mayes leads the team in assists with 34 on the season followed by Rondae Hill with 28.
The defensive side of the court is led by Matthew Mayes with 39 steals and 14 blocks on the year steals being the team high. The blocks are second to Igiehon with 15. Igiehon leads the team with 6.2 rebounds followed by Mayes with 5.2.
Henderson State comes into the game first in the conference with 9.6 steals per game and the number one turnover margin and forced turnovers.Â
