FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS - The Great American Conference hosted the annual awards banquet on Wednesday evening to start the conference tournament week. The first games will be played on Thursday and Friday for the quarterfinals.
Northwestern had two players earn conference accolades as Camron McDowell was All-GAC First Team selected by the conference coaches. Max Alexander was the second Ranger earning conference recognition, being selected to the All-GAC Second team.
McDowell is first in the conference in scoring and second in all of Division II, averaging 27.3 points per game. McDowell finished the regular season with a line of 27.3 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He finished first in most three-pointers in the conference with 78 and three per game. On defense, he finished with 50 steals, which was fourth in the conference in steals.
Alexander finished the season third in the conference in scoring with 20.4 points per game, 4.5 assist per game, and 3.5 rebounds. Alexander finished the season first in free throws made. He finished with 47 steals, which was fifth in the conference.
The Rangers had one player earn elite scholar athlete in Liam Canty. Northwestern GAC Academic honor roll the Rangers had one earn that honor in Jake LaSpisa.
Northwestern plays in the quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon with tip-off scheduled for 2:15 PM against Ouachita Baptist in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
