Rangers Fly Over Jets in Home Victory

ALVA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Soccer took down non-conference opponent Newman University by a final score of 2-1 Thursday evening at the Alva Rec Complex.

Individual Leaders

Both Kelsey Leveling and Jordan Gomes each finished the contest with one goal a piece.
Goalkeeper Briana Legaspi finished the evening with five total saves.
Kelsey Henneha and Eliany Parra each ended the contest with one assist a piece as well.
Arlet Polack concluded the match with five total shots, two of which were shots on goal.

Game Changer

The Jets struck first against the Rangers early on in the first half at the 7:28 minute mark, which was the first Northwestern goal conceded to an opponent in the first half this year.
The Rangers evened things up in the 62nd minute after a fantastically placed ball by Leveling went out of the reach of the Newman goalkeeper to find the back of the net on an assist by Parra.
Northwestern found their game winning goal from the freshman Gomes who netted her first goal of the season and first as a Ranger in the 85th minute on an outstanding ball from Henneha to give the black-and-red the 2-1 advantage and eventually the win.

News & Notes

This was the black-and-red's first multi-goal scoring match of the 2015 season.
Northwestern currently stands at 2-0-0 when playing matches at their home field in Alva.
