ALVA, Okla. -- A hard fought game between Northwestern Oklahoma State and Bemidji State went the distance and then some before the Beavers took a two-run lead in the 12th, eventually closing it out 5-3.

At the PlateThe K Zone
  • Getting his first start on the year on the bump was Stetson Buller Jr. who went one and two-thirds innings before being relieved by Kyle Renbarger who threw the longest of any Ranger pitcher on the day, going 3.2 innings and earning two strikeouts in the process.
  • Thomas Sander was next in for the hosts, also fanning two batters in his two and two-thirds innings of work.
  • Blake Jones came in for a batter, after which Jon Bauer pitched two full innings, giving up zero hits and two K's.
  • Next in for the Rangers was Brody Ausfahl who surrendered the two extra runs on four hits.
  • Finishing up the Ranger pitching night was Trevor Rakers who came in for the final two outs.

Game Changer
  • The first inning was a tough one for the Rangers, giving up three quick runs on three hits, but they would bounce back in the later innings.
  • The bottom of the sixth was a turning point in the game as Douglas came through with a leadoff single after which Bess homered to right-center making it a 3-2 ballgame.
  • Bess was once again a part of the scoring again in the 8th inning as he led off with a single up the middle, and was brought around by a lasered single to right field by Stanley.
  • Northwestern had their best chance to take the game in the 10th inning after a double to centerfield by Martinez. He stole third on the very next pitch, but a strikeout ended the inning before he could be brought all the way around.
  • In the top of the 12th inning, BSU would plate two runs, which would eventually be enough to win the game.

On Deck
  • Northwestern will finish off the two-game series with Bemidji State tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch to be thrown at 1 p.m.
