Rangers Blank Crimson Storm in Game One of Series

ALVA, Okla. -- Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball took home the win in the first game of a three game series with Southern Nazarene, 4-0 Friday night, while starter Pat Delano was dominant in the three-hit shutout.

At the Plate

Eight Ranger hitters collected hits in the first game of the series while two had multi-hit games in Thomas Bess and Xyruse Martinez.
Bess had a banner day at the plate, touching up the SNU hurler for three hits out of four plate appearances.
Martinez also had a good day at the dish, going 2-for-4.

The K Zone

Delano collected his first win of the season, Friday night as he only surrendered three hits on the outing. The 6'7" junior not only allowed three hits, but also struck out four in his complete game, shutout performance.

Game Changer

The first big game changer was in the second inning when Martinez laced a homerun over the left field wall to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
After a leadoff out in the bottom of the third inning, Christian Hammerl reached first on a single to centerfield and was advanced two batters later by another single, this time by Jacob Long. Bess reached on an error by the third baseman, loading up the bases. Taking advantage of the bases full of Rangers was Cooper Stanley who torched a double to right field, clearing the bases and making it a 4-0 lead, where the score would remain throughout.

On Deck

Northwestern will finish off the series with SNU tomorrow beginning at noon, with the final game to follow at 3 p.m.
