At The Plate
  • Seven different Northwestern batters collected hits in the nine inning contest with nine hits total as a team.

Game Changer
  • The game started off early as a pitcher's duel and remained that way throughout most of the game. Northwestern crossed the plate first in the contest in the fourth when Jacob Long crushed a homerun over the left field wall.
  • Neither team scored another run until the visitors put two runs up on the board to make it a one-run advantage for the Crimson Storm, but the Rangers weren't done yet.
  • The bottom of the eighth proved to be a big one for the hosts, posting three runs to take a two-run lead. The inning began with a single by Douglas, after which Long drew a walk, followed up by a SAC bunt by Bess, moving up each runner. Xyruse Martinez would come up two batters later and rip a double to right field, scoring Douglas. Then collecting his first collegiate hit was Alex Adams, scoring Cooper Stanley, making it a two-run adavantage for the home team.
  • In the top of the ninth inning, SNU caught fire, scoring four runs to take a two-run lead of their own.
  • For the second time in the game, Northwestern was able to make a comeback, this time to win it. The first two Ranger batters earned the first base and were moved up by a SAC bunt by Douglas. Next up for the home team, Bess striped a triple down the right field line, scoring all three runners aboard, winning the game in walkoff fashion.
