ALVA, Okla. -  After a tough first inning for Northwestern Oklahoma State, the home team would settle down and make a comeback, but it came up just short against Arkansas-Monticello, in a 4-3 ballgame.

At the Plate
  • The Rangers were only able to collect three hits in the first game of the series and two of those came off the bat of Jacob Long.
  • Long was 2-for-4 in the game with two RBI's.
  • The other hit belonged to Thomas Bess who was 1-for-4 on the evening with a triple.
The K Zone
  • Junior left hander, Walker Wharton was given the nod in the first game of the series and had a tough outing against the Weevils. The first batter was given first base on a hit by pitch, while the second singled his way on. Following a fielder's choice, the damage was done by the cleanup batter, Corey Wood who put one over the right-cenerfield fence.
  • Zach Postoak took the mound in the fifth inning and was dominant as he fanned five batters in his four innings of work while only giving up a single hit.
  • Finishing out the final inning for Northwestern was Stetson Buller Jr. who struck out the side in convincing fashion.
Game Changer
  • The first inning changed the entire game as the visitors were able to cross the plate three times before the Rangers were able to get out of the inning.
  • The Rangers were able to get on the board in the seventh when Bess was able to take a place on third after a roped triple to right center. Xyruse Martinez did his part in bringing Bess in after a sacrifice fly to centerfield, brought him in.
  • The Black-and-Red scored two more runs in the eighth inning when Long belted a single to centerfield, scoring both Jeremy Smith and Garrett Douglas.
On Deck
  • Northwestern will finish up the series with the Weevils when they will be looking to take the final two games, starting at noon.
