Alva, Oklahoma- Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball and head coach Ryan Wondrasek announced the 2022 softball schedule for the Rangers. Coach Wondrasek will be entering his first season with the Rangers.
The 2022 Softball season will feature a total of 52 games through the season. The Northwestern Softball schedule consists of 33 conference games being played, with 19 non-conference games throughout the season. The Rangers will play 25 of their 52 games at home this season in Alva, with the remaining 27 on the road between the road game and the neutral opening season festival. The Rangers will host 17 home conference games while playing 16 GAC games on the road.
The season opener will take place on February 11th with two games, one against Colorado Christian University and Eastern New Mexico. These two games will be a part of the Lubbock Christian Festival as the Rangers will play a total of five games through this festival. The final three games will be Colorado School of Mines, Lubbock Christian University, and Chadron State.
Northwestern will conclude the Lubbock Christian Festival and return home on February 15th for the 2022 home opener with a doubleheader against Newman, with the first game at 2:00 PM. This will open six straight home games for the Red-and-Black before opening the season's conference schedule.
The Great American Conference schedule will open on February 25th as the team travels to Arkansas-Monticello for a three-game series, with the doubleheader being played that Friday, the 25th.
Southwestern Oklahoma State will be Northwestern's first home conference game of the season with a doubleheader on March 8th starting at 1:00 PM. This will start five consecutive home games, with Southeastern coming to Alva the weekend of March 11th and 12th.
The Rangers will conclude regular season play on April 29th and April 30th, with the final home series taking on Southern Arkansas as Northwestern plays host to the defending regular season champions that weekend.
The Great American Conference Tournament will follow, starting March 5th and running through March 7th.
