ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State softball will travel to Durant to take on Southeastern in a three-game Great American Conference series. The doubleheader will be Friday and Saturday.
The Red-and-Black brings an overall record of 7-7 overall and 2-6 in Great American Conference play into the series, while SOSU has a record of 7-1, 3-1 in GAC play.
Jill DeVries leads NWOSU, going into her fifth season with the program. This season has been one of the best starts to a season during her tenure.
The Rangers have been led by Hannah Howell, Kalie Johnson, Morgan La Neve and Lindsey McElroy. Howell leads the team with a .484 average. McElroy has a .348 average; La Neve boasts a .333 average and Johnson carries an average of .300. La Neve leads the team with 12 RBI, with Jayden Solberg and Allison Zanca behind her with 11 and 10. McElroy currently has nine and Howell brings eight RBI into the series.
Howell leads Northwestern's pitching staff; she brings A record of 5-2 into the series, throwing 47.0 innings allowing 19 runs, 12 earned, with a 1.79 ERA; she has struck out 33 this season. Hannah Scoggin holds a record of 1-3; In 25.2 innings pitched, she carries an ERA of 2.18. Alexia Taylor has the other win for the Rangers, with a record of 1-0, in 4.0 innings pitched and an ERA of 5.25.
Southeastern:
The Savage Storm come into the series 7-1, on a four-game winning streak after defeating going back to last weekend with a win over Southern Nazarene; on Tuesday, SOSU won a game against East Central, with the other being suspended due to dark, and a sweep of Midwestern State on Wednesday.
SOSU is led by Augusta Duty, who has a .545 clip. Cheyenne Mahy has a .462 average with a double, triple and a homerun, while driving in three runs. Southeastern also has Peyton Streetman, Kady Fryrear with an average above .400. Streetman carries a .450 clip while Fryrear has a .429 average. Gracie Ore and Kamarie Wallace each lead the team with six RBI.
The Storm has thrown four pitchers this season and is led by Ashley Hedrick, with a 1-0 record, an ERA of 1.45 in 9.2 innings pitched. Amberlyn Walsworth holds an ERA of 2.33 in 24.0 innings of work and leads the team with a 3-0 record, while Mahy has a 2-0 record and boasts an ERA of 3.09. Micayla Galloway has a 1-1 record with an ERA of 4.00 in 7.0 innings of action.
Southeastern is led by head coach Ron Faubion, who is in his 22nd season at the helm. Faubion holds a 536-271 record through those seasons.
History:
The Rangers enter the weekend series, with the last matchup against SOSU being April of 2019; due to the season's cancelation in 2020, Northwestern fell in the previous series 4-0. The Rangers lost the last meeting 5-4. All-time, the Savage Storm lead the head-to-head series 23-5.
