Northwestern Heads to Arkadelphia for a Three-Game Series

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State softball hits the road again this weekend, this time heading to Arkadelphia to face Henderson State in a three-game Great American Conference series. The doubleheader will be Friday, with the single game on Saturday.

The Rangers brings an overall record of 7-10 overall and 2-9 in Great American Conference play into the series, while HSU has a record of 3-16, 2-9 in GAC play.

Jill DeVries leads the Red-and-Black, going into her fifth season with the program.

The Rangers have been led by Hannah Howell, Kalie JohnsonMorgan La Neve and Lindsey McElroy. Howell leads the team with a .457 average. McElroy has a .333 average; La Neve and Johnson both carry an average of .316. La Neve leads the team with 12 RBI, with Jayden Solberg and Allison Zanca behind her with 11 and 10. Howell and McElroy currently bring nine RBI into the series. 

Howell leads Northwestern's pitching staff; she brings A record of 5-3 into the series, throwing 55.0 innings allowing 28 runs, 20 earned, with a 2.55 ERA; she has struck out 39 batters this season. Hannah Scoggin holds a record of 1-4; In 28.2 innings pitched, she carries an ERA of 3.42.

Henderson State:

The Reddies come into the series 3-16 overall and 2-9 in the GAC, on a six-game losing streak after dropping a pair of games to Delta State in a mid-week non-conference matchup.

Kaitlyn O'Quinn leads HSU with a batting average of .433. O'Quinn has a team-high 26 hits. Abbie Moore paces Henderson State with 10 RBI, while Kailey Reese has nine.

The Reddies have five pitchers that have recorded a decision on the season. Mallory Brewer leads them with a 1-7 record in 12 appearances and she holds an ERA of 4.28. Leann Beasley leads the team in wins; she holds a record of 2-2 on the season in 11 outings and has an ERA of 6.30.

Henderson State is led by head coach David Martinez, who is in his first season as the head coach after being an assistant coach. Martinez holds a 3-16 record through this season.

History:

The Rangers enter the weekend series on a three-game losing streak against HSU, with the Reddies shutting out the Rangers in the last meeting, 8-0, back in 2019. Since 2014, Henderson State leads the series against Northwestern 17-7, including a 6-2 record in Arkadelphia.

Friday: Doubleheader 4 pm and 6 pm

Saturday: 12 pm
