Northwestern to Host Ouachita Baptist for a Three-game Series

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State softball returns home, after the last two weekends on the road, to host Ouachita Baptist in a three-game Great American Conference series. The doubleheader will be Friday, with the single game on Saturday.
 
The Rangers brings an overall record of 7-13 overall and 2-12 in Great American Conference play into the series, while OBU has a record of 10-8, 8-6 in GAC play.
 
Jill DeVries leads the Red-and-Black, going into her fifth season with the program.
 
The Rangers are led by Hannah HowellLindsey McElroy and Allison Zanca. Howell leads the team with a .431 average. McElroy has a .323 average, while Zanca carries a .311 average. Jayden Solberg leads the team with 15 RBI, then Morgan La Neve, Zanca and Howell are behind her with 12, 11 and 10. McElroy currently has nine RBI coming into the series. 
 
Howell leads Northwestern's pitching staff; she brings A record of 5-5 into the series, throwing 65.0 innings allowing 41 runs, 28 earned, with an ERA of 3.02; she has struck out 43 batters this season. Hannah Scoggin holds a record of 1-5; In 34.2 innings pitched, she has an ERA of 3.43.
 
Ouachita Baptist:
 
The Tigers come into the series 3-16 overall and 2-9 in the GAC, on a six-game losing streak after dropping a pair of games to Delta State in a mid-week non-conference matchup.
 
Hope Waid leads the Tigers with a .350 batting average and is one of six regulars with an average above .300. Jillian Jones leads OBU with 14 RBI and four homeruns. 
 
The Tigers have three pitchers that have won three games this year. They are led by Nikki Schneider, who has a sub 2.00 ERA, with a 1.93 and a 3-1 record in the circle. Madison Miller is 4-4 on the season with a 2.30 ERA, while Nicole Arreola is 3-3 with a 4.76 ERA.
 
Head coach Derrick Grimes leads Ouachita Baptist is in his first season as the Tigers' head coach. Grimes holds a record of 10-8 this season.
 
History:
 
The Rangers enter the weekend series against OBU after losing the last series in 2019 3-1. The Red-and-Black won the previous meeting 9-3. Since 2014, Northwestern leads the series against Ouachita Baptist 15-13, including a 9-7 record in Alva.
