Rangers set to host East Central this weekend

ALVA, Okla. – The Rangers welcome the Tigers of East Central to town this weekend. The series is set for Friday and Saturday, with a three-game series at the Alva Recreation Complex.

The Red-and-Black brings an overall record of 7-2 overall and 2-1 in Great American Conference play into the series, while ECU has a record of 4-5, 0-3 in GAC play.

Jill DeVries leads NWOSU, going into her fifth season with the program. She has the team off to the best start to the season during her tenure.

To start the season, the Red-and-Black have been led by Hannah HowellMorgan La Neve and Lindsey McElroy, all three of which are coming into the series hitting over .400. Howell leads the team with a .476 average. La Neve boasts a .440 average and McElroy has a .414 average. La Neve leads the team with 12 RBI, with McElroy and Allison Zanca behind her with nine and eight. Jayden Solberg currently has five and Howell brings four RBI into the series. 

Howell, the reigning GAC Pitcher of the Week, leads Northwestern's pitching staff; she brings A record of 5-0 into the series, throwing 30.2 innings allowing nine runs, four earned for a 1.14 ERA, she has struck out 30 so far this season. Hannah Scoggin holds a record of 1-1; In 15.0 innings pitched, she carries an ERA of 2.33. Alexia Taylor has the other win for the Rangers, with a record of 1-0, in 3.0 innings pitched and an ERA of 0.00.

East Central:

The Tigers come into the series on a four-game losing streak after being swept by Arkansas Tech last weekend.

ECU is led by Gabi Quintanilla, who has a .429 clip with a double and three RBI. Rachelle Mengwasser and Tatiana Bryant are the other Tigers with an average above .300. Mengwasser has a line of .320, with two doubles, five RBI, while Bryant carries an average of .310 with two homeruns, two doubles and six RBI.

The Tigers have used six pitchers this season and are led by Lauren HerrNeckar, who is 4-1 with an ERA of 2.39 in 26.1 innings pitched. Jessica Sisemore is 0-1, with an ERA of 4.50 in 4.2 innings of work, Paige Leschber brings an ERA of 6.15 with an 0-2 record in 13.2 innings, and Taryn O'Brien is 0-1 without recording and out. Taia Harris has pitched 13.0 innings with an ERA of 2.69, while Hannah Williams has thrown 3.1 innings and holds an ERA of 10.50.

East Central is led by head coach Destini Anderson, who is in her 15th season at the helm. Anderson holds a 365-327-2 record through those seasons. 

History:

The Rangers enter the weekend series, not having played ECU last year; due to the season's cancelation in 2019, NWOSU lost the series 3-1. Northwestern won the previous meeting 8-7. All-time, the Tigers lead the head-to-head series 16-12.
