Wilson Wins Heptathlon at Cowley Tiger

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – Gina Wilson of Northwestern Oklahoma State Track and Field claimed victory of the heptathlon at the 17th Annual Cowley Tiger Multi on Thursday afternoon.
 
Wilson would turn in her personal best finish in the javelin while also posting her best 100-meter hurdles time of the season. 
 
"This was a great start to the weekend." Stated Head Coach Jill Lancaster. "We are looking to build on this heading to West Texas A&M for Friday and Saturday. This was exactly what we needed. We were able to get some more events under us and it helped build our confidence as we advance to the Great American Conference Tournament."
 
Wilson would run the 100m hurdles in 17.6 seconds on Wednesday, taking a slight edge after the first event.
 
During the high jump, Wilson would leap 1.31m before throwing 8.05 meters in the shot put. 
 
Wilson would wrap up day one of the heptathlon in the 200-meter race. She had a finish of 27.7 seconds. 
 
On Thursday, Wilson would continue to stretch her lead, starting with the long jump. She would jump 4.20m.
 
Wilson recorded her personal best in the javelin throw, tossing 23.21m.
 
Day two would be wrapped up with the 800 meters race; Wilson would finish with a time of two minutes and 55.0 seconds. 
 
Wilson would record a two-day point total of 3117, winning over Channa Hines of Cowley County.
 
The Rangers will travel to Canyon, Texas, to compete in the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi on April 2nd and 3rd.
