Northwestern Wraps up Series with Southwestern

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State softball will wrap up their series with Southwestern Oklahoma State with game three of the Great American Conference series this afternoon starting at 4 pm.
 
The Rangers brings an overall record of 7-19 overall and 2-18 in Great American Conference play into the series.
 
Jill DeVries leads the Red-and-Black; this is her fifth season leading the program.
 
Northwestern is led by Hannah Howell, Lindsey McElroy and Kalie Johnson. Howell holds a batting average of .425, while McElroy holds a .329 average and Johnson carries a .301 average. 
 
Howell carries a team-high 19 RBI into the game. Morgan La Neve and Jayden Solberg follow with 15 RBI apiece. McElroy and Allison Zanca are next for the Red-and-Black with 13 and 12 RBI. 
 
Howell heads Northwestern's pitching staff; with a record of 5-8 into the series, throwing 73.1 innings allowing 68 runs, 43 earned, with an ERA of 4.10; she has struck out 47 batters this season. Hannah Scoggin holds a record of 1-8; in 55.1 innings pitched, she has an ERA of 4.43.
 
Southwestern:
 
The Bulldogs come into the game with an 8-14 record overall and 8-9 in the GAC. Southwestern dropped two-of-three against East Central over the weekend.
 
SWOSU is led by Kenedi Morelock, who has a .379 clip with two doubles and seven RBI, while Breanna Simmons boasts a .373 average, with eight doubles, a triple and four homeruns. Simmons leads the Bulldogs with 20 RBI. SWOSU also has Hannah Franklin with a .364 average, Jewell Lee with a .328 clip, Jordyn Wadley batting .323 and Gracen Williamson at .313 batting average.
 
The Bulldogs have used three pitchers this season and are led by Miranda Grover, with a 4-7 record, an ERA of 4.18 in 70.1 innings pitched. Brianna Cryer holds an ERA of 4.51 in 35.2 innings of work and has a record of 2-3, while Alisa Friesen brings an ERA of 6.38 with a 2-4 record in 45.0 innings of action.
 
Southwestern is led by head coach Kim Maher, who is in her fifth season in Weatherford. Maher holds a 64-134 record through those seasons. She has a career record of 304-338-3 over 13 seasons.
 
History:
 
The Rangers enter the mid-week game after falling in the last matchup against SWOSU. Northwestern fell 8-7 and 9-3 in Weatherford earlier this season. All-time, the Bulldogs lead the head-to-head series 17-13.
