ALVA, Okla- Northwestern opened their indoor track season Thursday in Wichita Kansas as part of the Shocker prelude hosted by Wichita State. Northwestern traveled 36 participants for the Thursday meet.Â
"The future looks bright as the depth and talent of our program begins to show. It has been a long time since 2020 since we participated in an indoor season. It is no surprise our athletes competed like they did" head coach Jill Lancaster stated.Â
The day started with two Rangers competing in the weight throw in Kelsey Swindle and Shaylee Beck.Â
Northwestern had four athletes compete in the shot put with the highest Lady Ranger being Destiny Chew placing ninth in the shot put.Â
The next event was the long jump in which the Lady Rangers would have six athletes compete in this event. They were led by Aaliyah Stovall who placed first in long jump with 5.06m being here best round. Alexa Leyva would also place in the top five.Â
Next for the Rangers was the triple jump as Northwestern had four more compete in this event as high as sixth in Cayla Smither in this event.Â
The Rangers would then have four more compete in high jump in the meet as Gina Wilson Austyn Pine would tie for fourth in the event.Â
The Red-and-Black would follow with five members competing in the 60m Hurdles with G. Wilson and Elizabeth McMahan finishing the top two for Northwestern in sixth and seventh respectively.
In the 60 meters events Northwestern was led by Debbie Olalere placing eighth in the event as one of nine Rangers to compete in the event.Â
In the one mile run the Rangers performed well as Mallory Boden placed second in the event with a time of 5:55.98 as one of four Northwestern runners.Â
The women's 400 meters Mallory Paruszewski led the way for Northwestern placing fifth. This event was followed by the 600 meter where Katelynn Dahn was the first Ranger to finish.Â
Jaeden Coon finished third in the 800 meter race for Northwestern being the first Red-and-Black athlete to finish the event. In the following event the 200 meter Northwestern would have two members in the top five. Those were Brianna Brantley and Tavonyia Lacy finishing in third and fourth place. They were two of nine to compete in this event.Â
Boden would then finish second in the 3000 meter event and the first Ranger to finish the event.Â
The program produced 2 School records which produce a champion in the Long Jump, Aaliyah Stovall Â
The other school record came from a freshman Briana Brantley who opened her first season up as a Ranger by winning her 200m. heat. Her efforts and those of teammates Lacy & Olalere produced the 3 top all time times.Â
 The 60 m proved to be highlighted newcomers as well, Debbie Olalere moved to #2 All time and Kenya Jackson moved #3 all time. Diamond Hilton along with Babette Bright help the group produce the top 4 marks moved into the top 5 All timeÂ
