LUBBOCK Texas: Northwestern Oklahoma State softball continues their season in Lubbock on Saturday with two games set for 11:00 AM followed by a scheduled 4:00 PM start time.
Northwestern is coming off a split doubleheader to open the 2022 campaign following a 1-0 victory, and a 10-6 loss on Friday.
The Rangers were led in the circle by Hannah Howell after throwing a complete game shutout to start the season with three strikeouts. Hannah Scoggin received the game two start allowing three earned runs.
Abby Detar was the Rangers leading hitter in batting average with a .429 average following a 3-7 day. Jayden Solberg went 2-5 including the game winning hit on a walk-off triple in the season opener over Colorado Christian. Lindsey McElroy hit the Rangers lone home run having 2-RBI on the day.
Scouting Colorado School of Mines:
The Mines come into Saturday on a six game losing streak to start the season following two losses to start the festival Friday.
Offensively they are led by Trystin Oshiro-Sano hitting .444 with 4 of her eight hits being extra base hits. Sidney Wilson leads the team with 4RBIs on the season with a .350 average.
Colorado's pitching staff is led by Sadriena Rodriguez who has a 0.00 ERA through her opening 10 innings of the 2022 season. Cassidy Chvatal has the most innings thrown at 12 with a 5.25 ERA.
Scouting Lubbock Christian:
Christian comes into Saturday with a 5-2 record on the season winning the opening three games of the Invitational.
They have four hitters hitting better than .400 as they are led by Tyla Lee at .455 on the season as she has four extra base hits out of her 10 at-bats. She is followed by Angela Donaldson at .429, Kamryn Gibbs, and Savannah Wysocki. Kasey Flores leads the team with 2-RBI on the season along with 9-RBI.
Their pitching has been a strong part of the early success with a team ERA of 1.83 led by Taylor Franco with a 1.18 ERA in 23 innings of work with a 3-0 record. Maxine Valdez is second with a 1.37 ERA in 15 innings thrown.
History:
This will be the first meeting between the Rangers and Colorado School of Mines.
Northwestern will look for the teams first win against Lubbock Christian since 2009 as the Ranges trail the series history 19-1 after dropping 15 straight to LCU.
