Ranger Track & Field Close out Indoor Season with Success

WICHITA, KANSAS- Northwestern Oklahoma State track & field traveled to Wichita, Kansas to close out the indoor season at the GAC Indoor Championships. The Rangers finished the season out with much success in the indoor championship.

Day one was lead by veteran Gina Wilson – she had an impressive start to competition with a huge personal best in 60 Hurdles to set a new school record. Gina earned points for the team in 3 events the Pentathlon, 60 Hurdles, and High Jump.

The Distance Medley Relay Jaeden Coon, Ladasheray Bell, Emily Smith, Mallory Boden followed by earning additional points to finish out day one of the championships in the running events.

"To date I think this was our best showing as a team with 40 personal bests is incredible. We were on point competing fearlessly. Our confidence level has just jumped up. As out attention turns to the outdoor season. Ranger Nation should be proud of our efforts in the indoor championships which drew numerous acknowledgements/compliments from all coaches, athletes and fans attending the meet," stated head coach Jill Lancaster.

Boden lead the distance crew producing scores for the events DMR Relay, 5000, and 3000. Goodnow and Gibson produced impressive marks in the long distances as well.

The middle distance crew followed with 3 personal bests in the 800 meter dash.

Day two started off where day one left off with the Ranger squad producing impressive marks that indicate the growth of the program.

The long jumpers stepped to the board with 2 different athletes setting the school record in the competition as Stovall beat Levy on her last jump of the competition. The triple Jumpers were lead by veteran Cayla Smither and freshman Mariah Logue right behind with Levy not far off. Wilson was able to score in the open High Jump as well. The throwers were lead by veteran Swindle with Beck & Setzer in the Weight Throw. The shot was lead by newcomer Hannah Appleton.

In the 60 & 60 Hurdles Northwestern was able to qualify for the finals with record setting marks for all involved.

Smith and G. Wilson lead the hurdlers while newcomers Hilton leading way for Kenya Jackson and Shakira Lane in the 60m dash.

Brianna Brantley continued her success on the 200 with a record effort of 26.47.

Teammates Hilton, Kenya Jackson, Shakira Lane, and Babette Bright were able to produce season bests for The Rangers as well.

The 400 long sprinters produced personal bests from Sylvia Dennis, Jordyn Tucker, and Mallory Paruszewski.

The squad of Ladasheray Bell, Brianna Brantley, Emily Smith, and Lane were able to put up a top 5 all time mark in the 4x 400 Relay to finish the meet out for Northwestern as the indoor season came to a close.

Next up for the Rangers will be the outdoor season beginning on March 19th a part of the Beaver Classic hosted by Pratt Community College.
