WICHITA, Kansas- The Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Track and Field team continued their indoor season on Saturday as a part of the WSU Invitational in Wichita Kansas.
"The teams' confidence is growing every meet producing personal bests and many duplicating marks which is the foundation for new personal bests." stated head coach Jill Lancaster.
Northwestern placed first in the 4x400 relay on Saturday on that team was Brianna Brantley, Emily Smith, Ladasheray Bell, Tavonyia Lacy.
The Rangers had one finisher in the top five of her respective event in Ladasheray Bell placing fourth in the 600meter with a time of 1:46.70.
Northwestern had six athletes finish in the top 10 of their events as Debbie Olalere placed eighth in the 60meters. Jean Dodds finished 10th in the 1000 meter. Brianna Brantley was seventh in the women's 200 meters with a time of 26.47.
Mallory Boden placed sixth in the 3000 meter event with a time of 11:53 29, while in the same event Libby Goodnow finished 10th at 12:36.54. Mallory Boden is duplicating her marks in the 3000 meters that bodes well with conference just a few weeks away. Liberty Goodnow and Josie Gibson continue to improve their 3000 meters time each meet.
Brantley breaks her own school record in the 200m, while Jean Dodds set a record in her first timed contested 1000m race. For a first time event contested for Northwestern. In theride 1000m Jean Dodds & Takia Zachary tied school record in high jump.
School record holder Aaliyah Stovall has started duplicating performances in the Long Jump
Triple Jump Specialist Cayla Smither is returning to strong performances with marks looking at her school record. Upperclassmen Kelsey Swindle is duplicating marks in the wt. throw that bodes well for her future performances as the season moves toward the end of indoor.
Hurdle specialist Emily Smith moved to #2 all time in her first collegiate 800m race. Jerika Coon and Jaeden Coon continue to move in the right direction with their performances in each of their events.
The 4x 400 Relay had a Huge breakthrough with a time moving that moved into #2 All time
Strong Performances began to pop this weekend for the rest of the team on the edge of breakthrough and close to chasing down records. The team currently has 7 of top 10 all time marks in 60m. Dash as well as 6 of the top 10 marks in 200.
Our Efforts across the board moved many athletes into the top all time list while others duplicated marks which shows a sign of good things to come.
"The athletes are starting to trust the process to be your best at the end of the indoor season. .The team is becoming a tighter understanding of our efforts as a unit will help the team in the Great American Indoor Championship at the end of the month." stated head coach Jill Lancaster
Northwestern's Track & Field team will return to action February 25th through 26th competing in the Great American Conference indoor Championships in Wichita Kansas.
