ALVA, OKLA- Northwestern Oklahoma State softball is set for their third consecutive road trip on the season traveling to Ada, Oklahoma for a three game series against the East Central Tigers. This will be the first and only regular season meeting with the Tigers with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 PM followed by a Saturday doubleheader.
The Rangers (6-6 overall and 0-3 GAC) are coming off a split doubleheader on Wednesday at Newman University after dropping the series to Arkansas Monticello.
Northwestern's offense is led by Lindsey McElroy hitting .414 on the season with 12 hits in nine games started. She leads the Rangers with 13 RBI on the season. She is joined by five other players hitting over .300 on the season. Jayden Solberg is hitting over .400 at .412 on the year with a team high three home runs on 14 hits in her 10 games played. Hannah Howell is hitting .375 on the year with 11 RBI second highest on the team. Abby DeTar is next hitting .371 with 10 RBI and a tema high 11 runs scored this year. Mackenzie Adams and Jaci Oakley are the final two Rangers hitting over .300 at .346 and .308 on the year.
As a team Northwestern is hitting .313 with nine home runs in 12 games played with a total of 38 extra base hits all-together.
The Red-and-Black pitching staff, Howell has the most innings pitched throwing 32 innings in six games started with three complete games thrown including one shutout on the year. She has struck out 19 batters in those innings. Opponents are hitting .297 off here and enters the weekend with a 4-0 record. Victoria Vasquez has picked up the other two Ranger victories on the season with a 2-0 record in 2.1 innings thrown with a 0.00 ERA. Allie Hufford has thrown 10 innings this season earning one save striking seven out over 10 innings.
Scouting the Tigers:
The Tigers (4-10 overall and a 2-1 GAC) enter play coming off a series victory over Arkansas Tech two games to one. East Central is 2-3 in their last five games.
Their offense is led by Kenzie Lasker with a .464 average with three doubles and a triple on the season with a team high eight RBIs through 10 games started. Jayna Reid is the other Tiger hitting above .300 for East Central with three doubles on the season. Rachelle Mengwasser leads the team with 2 home runs on the season in 21 plate appearances.
The pitching staff is led by Taia Harris enters the weekend with six complete games in eight games started this season throwing 47.2 innings with a 3.82 ERA. Second on the team is Taryn O'Brien with one complete game in four games started with 23 innings of work.
History:
The Tigers lead the series history 19-10 dating back to the 2012 season. East Central enters play winners of three straight six of the last seven games of the series as the Rangers look to change the recent series results.
