ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State returns home for their first game on Ranger field since February 15th. Wednesday's home game will be the first of five straight and eight of the next 10 on Ranger field. This will be a doubleheader with first pitch starting at 1:00 PM in game one.
Northwestern (7-8 overall and 1-5 GAC) entered Wednesday coming off a series loss to East Central winning one of three games in the series. The Rangers enter with a 2-0 home record this season.
The Rangers this season enter play led on offense by Lindsey McElroy with a .410 average as one of five players over .300. She is joined by Abby DeTar at .386, Jayden Solberg .381, Genesis Rodriguez .375 and Hannah Howell hitting .333 for the Rangers. Northwestern is led in home runs by Solberg with four on the season followed by DeTar with three. DeTar leads the team with 15 RBIs on the year following five this past weekend including a grand slam. Rodriguez leads the team with a .484 on-base percentage out of the qualified hitters.
In the circle for the Rangers Howell has made the most starts with eight on the season throwing five complete games in those eight starts along with two shutouts on the year. She enters the day with a 5.02 ERA striking out 24 hitters in 43 innings of work. She is 5-1 on the season with the most wins on the team. Victoria Vasquez is 2-0 on the year in 2.1 innings of work for the Rangers. Allie Hufford has picked up the Rangers lone save on the season. Hannah Scoggin has made the second most starts with five on the year including one complete game.
Scouting the Bulldogs:
Southwestern (3-10 overall and 2-4 GAC) entered Wednesday afternoon coming off a series win over Oklahoma Baptist at home including two of the three games going into extra innings. Overall the Bulldogs are 2-3 in their last five games and enter play with a 0-3 record on the road away from Weatherford.
Their offense is led by Breanna Simmons hitting .410 on the season with two home runs and 9 RBIs on the year as one of three hitters above the .300 mark on the year. She is joined by Maddie Rahon and Jewell Lee with a .333 and .308 average on the season. Jordyn Wadley leads the team with three home runs on the year with three players tied at 7 RBIs tied for second on the team.
The Bulldog pitching staff is led by Brianna Cryer with a 6.62 ERA in seven games started throwing two complete games on the year. She has 37 innings pitched striking out 22. Alisa Friesen has thrown 25.1 innings throwing three complete games this season with a 1-5 record on the year. The other two wins came from Cryer.
History:
This will be the 32nd meeting between the two teams as the Rangers trail the series history 14-17 overall. The Rangers won the last meeting between the two teams last season by a final score of 11-10 after dropping the first two games of the season. Overall the Rangers are 1-4 in their last five against the Bulldogs.
