Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BETHANY, OKLAHOMA - The Ranger Softball team closed out their three game series Saturday with an afternoon doubleheader. Southern Nazarene was able to take both games from the Rangers using a four run fifth inning to open a six run advantage in game two. Game one the Crimson Storm won 9-3 behind a eight run fifth inning.

GAME ONE:

Hannah Scoggin started the first game of the day throwing 5.1 innings striking out three allowing four runs in the game. Allie Hufford threw in relief, finishing the sixth inning.

Northwestern continued their late scoring from Friday night opening the first inning with a run to get the scoring started early. The Rangers produced a run in the first on three straight singles as Howell started things followed by Adams and Zanca getting the RBI single back up the middle. Scoggin worked around a leadoff single  before a double play got the Rangers out of the 1st inning with a 1-0 lead.

After the Rangers went down in order in the second inning the Crimson Storm threatened to tie the game in their half with a leadoff double followed by a walk. A passed ball put runners on second and third nobody out but Scoggin used two infield pop ups and a strikeout to escape with no damage done as the Rangers held a 1-0 lead through two innings.

The third inning the Crimson Storm were able to comeback and tie the game after escaping a leadoff single from the Rangers. Southern Nazarene came back with a leadoff single before Jones doubled in the run to tie the game at 1-1 through three innings of play.

The teams traded scoreless fourth innings both leaving runners on base in their half of the inning. Northwestern went down in order in the fifth as Scoggin held the Crimson Storm scoreless forcing the home team to leave a runner on third following a pop out.

Each team struck in the sixth getting back on the board as the Rangers struck first with a two run inning. Howell led off with a double followed by a Adams home run to right field pushing the Rangers in front 3-1.

The Crimson Storm answered back though with an eight run inning to steal the game in the sixth. Fellers led the inning off with a single for Southern Nazarene before they tied the game with their own 2-run home run by Evans. Icenhower followed with a solo home run going back-to-back with Evans to take their first lead of the game at 4-3.

Their inning did not stop there though with a single and a stolen base allowed Everhart to get in scoring position before a single through the right side pushed their lead to 5-3. The sixth run scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-3 before  a Curlee single followed by a Swearinge triple pushed the score to 8-3. Evens singled up the eighth run of the inning to take a 9-3 lead over the Rangers.

Northwestern put two runners on in their half of the seventh inning trying to make a comeback attempt but the Crimson Storm escaped any damage, holding on for the 9-3 victory over the Rangers.

GAME TWO:

Hannah Howell pitched in game two throwing five innings while striking out three. Victoria Vasques pitched an inning of work in relief.

The first inning the teams traded zeros. McElroy was hit by a pitch to be the only baserunner of the inning. Howell struck out two in the bottom of the inning. In the second inning Zanca drew a walk for the Rangers. Southern Nazarene had their first hit of the game but Swearinge was left stranded as the game remained 0-0.

Icenhower doubled to left center to start the inning before coming around to score the game's first run on a fielder's choice by Heshiki. Howell was able to get out of the jam the rest of the inning keeping the game at 1-0.

Southern Nazarene was able to further their lead in the fourth after a two out single and walk put a runner in scoring position. Icenhower followed with an RBI single to push their lead to 2-0. Southern Nazarene piled on more runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0. With a runner on second Curlee doubled to left field, scoring Jones. Curlee went around to score on the wild pitch. Later in the inning with a runner on first the Crimson Storm extended their lead to 6-0 on a Evans 2-run home run.

In the sixth inning the Rangers offense struck for four hits in the inning. McElory started with a single as Howell, Adams, and La Neve followed with singles as La Neve's was an RBI single scoring McElroy.

The bottom of the inning Sundbye started with a single before stealing second. Heshiki singled to right field pushing their lead back to 7-1. The Crimson Storm had their largest lead of the game after Curlee's single back up the middle for an 8-1 lead.

In the seventh inning Jayden Solberg and Jaci Oakley singled but that would be all the Rangers could get as the Crimson Storm closed out their 8-1 victory over the Rangers.
