Softball Hits Road For Final Road Series of the Season

RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State enters Friday opening a three game series against Arkansas Tech in Russellville for the final regular season road series of the year. The series will open with a single game on Friday with first pitches scheduled for 5:00 PM before a Saturday afternoon doubleheader closes out the series with first pitch scheduled for Noon. 

The Rangers (13-28-1 overall, and 7-20 GAC) will look to snap their eight game losing streak after dropping the series against Harding this past weekend. Rangers enter with a 4-15 record on the road. 

The Ranger offense is led by Abby DeTar hitting .379 on the season, one of two hitters above the .300 mark joined by Allison Zanca with a .346 batting average. Mackenzie Adams leads the Rangers in home runs with 10 on the season which ranks fifth in the GAC in this statistic while hitting .282 on the season. She is second on Northwestern with 34-RBIs. DeTar leads the team with 35-RBI this season. DeTar leads with eight stolen bases on the year with Solberg a perfect 6-6 in stolen bases. 

In the circle for the Red-and-Black Hannah Howell leads the Rangers with 25 starts on the season including 11 complete games ranking fifth in the conference. She has two shutouts on the season with 131 innings of work. Howell leads the team with nine wins this season. Victoria Vasquez and Allie Hufford are tied for second with two wins on the year. Hannah Scoggin is second on the team in innings pitched with 73 on the year. 

Scouting the Golden Suns:

Arkansas Tech (31-16 overall, 21-6 GAC) enters the weekend on a two game losing streak after dropping two games to Oklahoma Christian. They come in on a 10 game winning streak inside the Great American Conference. Overall at home the Golden Suns are 10-3 at home.

On offense Arkansas Tech has two hitters hitting above .400 in Caitlyn Wells with a .428 average and Tymber Riley at .421. They have two hitters with double digit home runs as Riley has hit 13 home runs with Wells at 11. Riley leads the team with 44-RBIs, Wells with 40 and Mackenzie Goins at 41 runs batted in this year. Shelby Chavers leads the team with 12 stolen bases on the year. 

Kaila Cartwright leads the team with a 1.05 ERA through 23 appearances this season throwing 46.2 innings of work with 44 strikeouts. Shannon Lasey is the leader for starting pitchers with 23 starts on the season with a 1.57 ERA with a team high 14 wins on the season followed by Bailey Buffington with 10 wins on the season and an ERA of 2.51. Lasey and Buffington each have seven complete games. Cartwright leads the team with five saves on the season. 

History: 

Overall Arkansas Tech leads the series history 22-9 in the 31 games played so far this season entering game number 32-34. The Golden Suns have won 16 straight games over the Rangers in a series dating back to 2013. Northwestern's last win over the Golden Suns came in 2016 in Russellville.
