WEATHERFORD, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball travels to Southwestern Oklahoma State for a mid-week conference game. The Rangers will conclude their regular season series with Bulldogs after taking the first two games earlier in the season.
The Rangers (12-20-1 overall and 6-14 conference) look to snap the team's three game losing streak after this weekend against Southern Nazarene. Rangers enter play 3-13 on the road on a three game losing streak.
Abby DeTar enters play with a .409 batting average through 32 games this season and is one of five players hitting over .300 on the season. Allison Zanca (.370), Lindsey McElory (.316), Hannah Howell (.310), Jayden Solberg (.310) and Genesis Rodriguez (.326). Mackenzie Adams leads the Rangers in home runs this season with 26 RBIs. The home runs lead the Rangers on the year. DeTar leads the team with 31-RBI on the year along with 10 doubles and is second on the team with six home runs. As a team the Rangers are hitting .293 with 30 home runs and 166 RBIs.
In the circle Howell leads the team with nine wins on the season in 20 starts on the year including 10 complete games on the year along with two shutouts in 104.2 innings of work. Victoria Vasquez is second on the team with two wins in 10 innings of work. Hannah Scoggin is second on the team in innings pitched with 56.2 innings of work with two complete games on the year.
Scouting the Bulldogs:
The Bulldogs (8-21 overall and 7-13 conference) enter play on a two game win streak after winning the series over East Central at home. Overall the Bulldogs are 6-5 at home winning their last two games.
Inside the circle Alisa Friesen leads the team with 84.2 innings of work including eight complete games and one shutout on the year. She has 32 strikeouts in those innings. Second on the team is Brianna Cryer throwing six complete games in 81.2 innings of work including 16 starts on the season.
Maddie Rahon leads the team in batting average with .326 as one of two players above the .300 mark joined by Breanna Simmons with a .323 average. Jordyn Wadley leads the team with six home runs on the season with 18 RBIs on the year. Simmons leads the team with 19-RBI on the year with Wadley second at 18. Southwestern's batting average is .253 on the season with 13 home runs on the year and 110-RBIs on the season.
History:
This will be game number 34 in the series history between the two programs as Southwestern has a slight lead 17-16 over the Rangers. Northwestern has won three straight in the series all being in Alva including the first two this season. The team won game one 9-1 before winning 7-6 in the second game. Howell pitched a complete game in the first game followed by Allie Hufford winning game two.
