Northwestern Ready to Host Oklahoma Baptist for Three Game Series

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball returns home to open a three game series against Oklahoma Baptist. The Rangers are coming off a come from behind victory on Tuesday over Southwestern completing the season sweep. The series opens on Friday with a single game with first pitch set for 5:00 PM. The series will conclude with an afternoon doubleheader starting at Noon followed by 2:00 PM start. 
 

The Rangers (13-20-1) look to carry in the momentum from Tuesday's road win as Northwestern snapped their three game losing streak. At home the Rangers are 6-5-1 this season after a tie to Fort Hays State. 
 

After four hits on Tuesday including a grand slam Abby DeTar now leads the Rangers with a .426 batting average with seven home runs and 35-RBI this season. Her own base percentage climbed to .472 on the year. She is one of five players hitting above .300 as Allison Zanca (.384), Hannah Howell (.327), Genesis Rodriguez (.319), Lindsey McElroy (.317), and Jayden Solberg (.305).

Mackenzie Adams is hitting .290 on the season tied for the team high at seven home runs with 27-RBI on the year which is second for the Rangers. As a team the Rangers are hitting .299 with 31 home runs along with 179 RBIs and have stolen 35 out of 37 bases led by DeTar with eight. 

 

Hannah Howell has been the Rangers leading pitcher so far this season with a team high nine wins in 21 starts on the year with 10 complete games thrown with two shutouts. She has thrown a total of 105.2 innings of work. Victoria Vasquez is tied for second with two wins on the year with Allie Hufford. Hannah Scoggin is second on the team in starts made with 14 and innings with 61.0 on the year. 
 

Scouting the Bison:

Oklahoma Baptist (22-18, 10-11 GAC) enters the weekend after splitting their mid-week doubleheader with Southern Nazarene. The Bison enter play 16-11 away from Shawnee 2-3 in their last five road games. 
 

The Bison offense has been led by Samanatha Campos with a .308 average one of two players over the .300 mark along with Jocee Sparks at .301. Sparks leads the team with nine home runs and a team high 34 RBIs. Campos is second in both with five home runs and 22-RBI this season. As a team the Bison are hitting .251 this season with 27 home runs and 153-team RBI. They have stolen 41 bases in 47 attempts. 
 

In the circle the Bison are led by Kayleigh Jones with a 14-10 record with 16 complete games including five shutouts and three saves. She has struckout 214 hitters in 150 innings of work. Aspen Younce is second on the team with a 3.84 ERA with an 8-6 record including seven complete games and two shutouts in 93 innings of work. 
 

History Against Oklahoma Baptist:

This will be game number 24-26 this upcoming series as Oklahoma Baptist leads the series history 16-7 between the two programs. The Rangers will look to snap a eight game losing streak against the Bison with the last win coming in February of 2019.
