EMPORIA, KANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Track & Field concluded their weekend meet at Emporia State in the Emporia State University Relays. The Rangers overall closed out the meet with 30 personal best and four school records.
"Once again our ladies prove to me they are ready to compete with the best as we held our own against tough competition in a really talented meet. This included some of the best NCAA Division II programs" stated head coach Jill Lancaster.
The Rangers efforts produced 30 new personal bests and four new school records helping the team to an 11th place finish out of 22 teams.
Leading the way for the Rangers was the Women's Distance Medley placing first overall and earning points for the Rangers. The group of Jasmin Garcia, Kenya Jackson, Emily Smith, and Liberty Goodnow set the new school record in the event while picking up 10 points for Northwestern.
"I am very proud of the work these athletes are doing and the accomplishments they are making each week along with our coaches in Coach Young, and Coach Broomfield as our program continues to rise to new levels" mentioned Lancaster.
Valerie Nzeakor set a new school record in the long jump event placing inside the top five at fourth overall helping the Rangers to five points in this event. Diamond Choate placed 24th followed by Maryam Dianka in 25th for the long jump.
Nzeakor also earned points for the Rangers in the Triple Jump placing eighth overall in the event picking up one. Maryam Dianka led the way in triple jump though finishing fifth overall in the event and earning four points for the Rangers.
In the Women's 4x100 meter relay the Rangers placed fourth in the event led by Diamond Hilton, Riley Midgett, Shackera Douglas, and Brianna Brantley in the relay team. The team's fourth place finish earned five points in the event.
The Rangers relay team continued to find success throughout the meet as in the 4x400 meter relay the Rangers earned three points after a sixth place finish led by Renaja Engermann, Brianna Brantley, Shackera Douglas, and Shakira Lane.
Kelsey Swindle finished the meet setting a new school and personal record in the Hammer throw with her best being 40.40m for a 22nd place finish in the meet for the Rangers.
The fourth school record for the Rangers was set by Tavonyia Lacy in the 400 meter dash placing 17th overall with a final mark of 59.69.
The Rangers will return to action with the next meet March 31st-April 1st in Wichita Kansas at the Friends University meet they will be hosting.
