Rosemary Rivera Earns GAC Player of the Week

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State infielder Rosemary Rivera earned Great American Conference Player of the Week. This is the first one of the season for the Rangers after earning a win over Southwestern on Tuesday to sweep the conference part of the schedule with the Bulldogs, and picking up a win over Arkansas Monticello.

Rosemary Rivera played in all five games for the week, hitting an impressive .467 while driving in seven runs, and scoring seven times over that stretch. Rivera had three doubles and three home runs to finish with a slugging percentage of 1.267 and an on base percentage of .600.

In the doubleheader against Southwestern she finished the day with two doubles while also scoring a run helping the Rangers to a split doubleheader.

In game one of the series against Arkansas Monticello Rivera helped lead the Rangers to a 10-2 victory over the Blossoms. The Rangers infielder had 6-RBIs in the win having two home runs in the game including a grand slam that put the Rangers well out in front.

Rivera's third home run of the week came in game three of the series that pushed the Rangers out in front at the time to break a 2-2 tie game giving the Rangers a 3-2 lead at that point in the game.

Northwestern is home for five straight games this week with two against Fort Hays State on Tuesday April 16th starting at 1:00 PM. Rangers will be home for a weekend conference series against Southern Arkansas with a doubleheader Friday at 1:00 PM.
