Rangers Set school Record and Over 10 Personal Bests at Friends Spring Open

WICHITA, KANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's track completed their meet at Friends University on Saturday afternoon completing the three day meet in Wichita. The Rangers set 11 personal bests and had a school record set in the 1500M by Asia Williams, and Cadence Long-Torres.

"The Rangers are starting to move forward in being ready for the GAC Championships in four weeks. Our coaching staff is proud of the progress being made. There is no doubt the team's confidence is building and creating excitement" stated head coach Jill Lancaster.

The Rangers in the 100M had four top 15 finishers in the event paced by Shackera Douglas placing second overall with a time of 11.89. She was followed by Diamond Hilton with a time of 12.19 placing seventh in the event. Darianne Thompson and Machala Hengen are the next two Rangers placing 12th and 15th in the event. 

In the 200M the Rangers had three top 15 finishers including two top 10 placers. Led by Tavonyia Lacy with a time of 24.98 placing four overall in the event. Diamond Hilton was next for the Rangers with a time of 25.35 placing eighth. Douglas was 15th in the event with a time of 25.82 in the event. 

Shakira Lane led the way with a time of 1:01.22 to place eighth overall in the event just ahead of Renaja Engermann who placed 10th with a time of 1:01.89. Skyler Tillery set her personal best in the 400M placing 14th with a time of 1:03.19.

The 800M event Reina Gonzales led the way with a 14th place finish with a time of 2:37.10 followed by Asia Williams with a time of 2:43.23 for a 23rd place finish. 

Two Rangers placed inside the top 20 for the 100M hurdles as Machala Hengen placed ninth with a time of 15.15, with Gina Wilson taking 16th overall at 16.89. 

The Rangers had two teams in the 4x100m relay as the first placed second in Lacy, Douglas, Hilton, Dianka with a 48.39 followed by Engermann, Tillery, Lane, and Combs placing 4th with a 49.38. The 4 x800 placed fourth in Long-Torres, Gonzales,Williams and Jamie Torres-Franco with a 1:17.44.

The field events of the Rangers in high jump were led by Asia Hicks placing 13th with a mark of 1.50M. Maryam Dianka and Gina Wilson each finished with a mark of 1.40M. 

Olivia Saner set the Rangers new school record in pole vault finishing with a 3.25M placing 5th overall in the event.

Darianne Thompson led the team in the long jump with a mark of 5.30M placing 11th overall in the event. Gina Wilson was next placing 22nd overall in the event with a mark of 4.88M. 

Hannah Appleton led the way in the shot put with a mark of 11.10M placing 19th as one of two Rangers in the top 20 as Chloe Grusing finished with a mark of 10.94M. 

The discus throw Chloe Grusing led the way for the Rangers with a 37.06M placing in the top 10 with an eighth place finish. Hannah Appleton was the other Rangers top 15 finish placing 11th with a mark of 35.71M.

Hannah Appleton led the way in the hammer throw as she placed 14th in the event with a mark of 39.42M. She was one of two to place in the top 25 as Kaylan Swindle placed 23rd with a mark of 35.33M. 

Jordyn Tucker led the way in the javelin throw for the Rangers with a top 10 finish placing seventh overall with a mark of 33.27M. Alexandra Kepley and Kaylan Swindle both placed in the top 20. Kepley was 18th with a mark of 24.54M and Swindle in 20th.
