Cadence Long-Torres Sets Two School Records at Owen Hewett Invitational

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - The Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Track & Field team competed in the second indoor meet of the season, this one hosted by the University of Oklahoma. At the Owen Hewett Invitational at the Mosier Indoor Facility.

The Rangers had one athlete in Cadence Long-Torres set two new school records for the Rangers first in the Mile Run followed by the 3000M event. 

"Our ladies competed with a quality field and most returners were just off their previous personal best. The newcomers performed very well and were not intimidated by the competition" stated head coach Jill Lancaster.

Long-Torres led the way for the Rangers in the mile run, setting the new school record with a time of 5:38.93 placing seventh overall in the event. Ava Miller placed top 15 as well, and Elizabeth Dorado-Barrera set her new personal record with a time of 6:22.58. 

In the next event, Cadence Long-Torres continued her strong showing, setting the second school record in the meet this time the 3000M with a final time of 11:24.66, placing in the top five with a third-place finish. Jamaira Ross placed sixth with a 11:42.88 followed by Ava Miller with a 12:06.85 for eighth. Elizabeth Dorado-Barrera had her PR for the event with a 12:44.18.

The 60M event Diamond Hilton was the leader for the Rangers with a final time of 8.04. Darianne Thompson had her season best with an 8.08, as Brianisha Rolling set her new personal best with an 8.11 in the 60M.

For the 200M Diamond Hilton was the team leader placing 11th with a time of 27.21, and Darianne Thompson with a time of 27.28 placing 12 as the two in the top 15 for the event.

The Rangers had a new personal best in the 400M as Harmonie Hughes finished with a 1:02.52 placing seventh in the event. 

Next, the high jump was led by Asia Hicks with a final mark of 1.46M placing fifth overall in the event. Gabriella Hall had a marking of 5.08 in the long jump leading the Rangers with a 10th-place finish. 

In the throwing events, Temi Michaels led the way with a throw of 12.03M leading the Rangers followed by Kaylan Swindle with a throw with a mark of 11.42M.

Closing out the Owen Hewett Invitational the 4x400m Relay was run by Engermann, Hilton, Henderson, and Dates, placing 11th with a time of 4:18.44.
