Alva, Ok. - the Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball team dropped the final two games of the series against Oklahoma Baptist University.
Pitcher Madelyn Cason started on the mound for the Rangers for the first game of the double header. Throughout four innings, Cason threw 4 strikeouts.
Northwestern struck first as Abby Baglin scored off of a fielders choice. The Rangers added to the damage with an RBI single by Kaylee Madden and an RBI double by Kaitlyn Corn. The Rangers held a 3-0 lead after four innings.
Katy Jones took the mound after the bases being loaded. After an error by right field, the Bison scored 3 unearned runs to tie the game.
Oklahoma Baptist took the lead in the top of the seventh and added two more insurance runs.
They took Game 1 6-3.
The Bison looked to capitalize from their success in Game 1. They got on the board in the first inning with a sac fly.
Northwestern responded in major fashion. Kaitlyn Corn scored the first run of the inning after an error by the Bison. Oklahoma Baptist walked two Ranger batters and two runs scored. Makanalei Lapera hit an RBI single and another run scored. Kaylee Madden scored an RBI single for the fifth run of the game. The Rangers lead 5-1 after the first inning.
Northwestern scored another unearned run in the second inning to increase their lead to 6-1.
The Bison responded with a 3 run homer in the following inning. Northwestern would score another run in the fifth inning. They led 7-4 after 5 innings.
Oklahoma Baptist scored 5 runs in the sixth off of a homer and RBI single and double.
The Bison take the final game of the series 9-7.
Northwestern is back in action Tuesday against Missouri S & T.
