Rangers Split Day One of 8-State Classic

Leading Off - Game One
Score: Northwestern 9 – Missouri S&T - 1
Records: Northwestern (1-4, 0-0 GAC) – Missouri S&T A& (0-2, 0-0 GLVC)
Location: Bentonville, Ark.


BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball obtained their first victory of the season over the Lady Miners of Missouri S&T by a final score of 9-1 in six total innings. 

At The Dish
  • Leading the Northwestern offensive attack in game one was Lacey Hudson who finished the contest going 2-for-3 with three total runs, four overall RBIs, and crushed two homeruns. 
  • Megan Sanders posted an impressive stat line of her own going 2-for-2 with one run, two RBIs, and one homerun. 
  • Taylor Watham and Madison McGraw each were able to record one RBI of their 

The K Zone
  • Jalena Arthur started things off in the circle and went a strong 4.0 total innings only giving up one earned run, two hits and struck out four batters.
  • Karly Murray came into the on relief as she finished pitching 2.0 innings and striking out one hitter. 

Game Changer
  • A wild pitch was the initial spark for the Ranger offense as the red-and-black could not be stopped going forward in this contest, scoring nine total runs on the day.
  • Northwestern was able to bomb three homeruns during the match-up which certainly proved to be a difference maker.

Score: Northwestern 0 – Missouri - St. Louis 7
Records: Northwestern (1-5, 0-0 GAC) – UMSL (8-0, 0-0 GLVC)
Location: Bentonville, Ark.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down against Missouri - St. Louis in their second game of the day in the 8-State Classic in Arkansas by a final score of 7-0.

At The Dish
  • Caitlin Coody finished the contest going 1-for-2 on the evening at the plate. 
     
The K Zone
  • Jalena Arthur began the game once again in the circle, going 2.1 total innings giving up four earned runs, on three hits, and struck out one.
  • Madison Garza would come in on relief as she went 2.2 innings with three earned runs given up, on five hits, and five strikeouts.
  • Karly Murray threw the last 1.0 inning in relief only giving up one hit and striking out one batter. 

Game Changer
  • Missouri - St. Louis showed domenance in their pitching as they recorded 18 total strikeouts against Northwestern.

Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will continue their Arkansas road campaign as they will take on Drury University and William Jewell College each on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 3:00 p.m. / 5:00 p.m.
