WICHITA, Kan. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down in the first game of the day against Newman University by a final score of 8-0 on the road in five innings. 

At The Dish

The K Zone
  • Madison Garza started the match-up for the black-and-red as she went 4.0 innings giving up five earned runs on seven hits and struck out three hitters. 
  • Karly Murray and Erin Norrie each threw a combined 0.2 innings in relief as well. 

Game Changer
  • The defensive game came into play in this first match-up as the Rangers committed two defensive errors compared to Newman's zero.
  • Overall hits certainly played its role as well with the Jets tallying 10 total hits in the first contest compared to Northwestern's four.

WICHITA, Kan. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball defeated the Jets of Newman University in the second match-up of the day by a final score of 8-0 in six total innings on the road. 

At The Dish
  • Sarah Williams and Alexis Hayes each led the Northwestern offensive attack in the second match-up of the day as each finished going 2-for-4 with one run scored, and two RBIs. 
  •  Jordan Haya added a blast over the fence as well and finished the game 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
  • Five other Rangers recorded one hit each in this game as well, as the black-and-red totaled 10 hits against the Jets.
     
The K Zone
  • Madison Garza started game two as well for Northwestern and went the distance as she threw 6.0 innings, giving up zero runs, two hits, and struck out three.
     

Game Changer
  • Offensive output was definitely the difference maker in this match-up as the Rangers out hit the Jets 10-2 overall in the game. 
     


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will face Great American Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist in a doubleheader to open the series starting on Friday March 18 with the opening game to start at 2 p.m. at the Alva Rec Complex in Alva, Okla.
