Rangers Unable to Avoid Sweep by OBU

Leading Off - Game One
Score: Northwestern 0 – Oklahoma Baptist 8
Records: Northwestern (9-19, 6-8 GAC) – Oklahoma Baptist (18-6, 10-4 GAC)
Location: Bison Field at Ford Park - Shawnee, Okla.

SHAWNEE, Okla– Game one of the day was a tough one for Northwestern as they were shut out by Oklahoma Baptist by a final score of 7-0. 

At The Plate
  • Jacob Long and Thomas Bess recorded the only hits for the Rangers during game one as well as a stolen base. 

The K Zone
  • Robert Lawhon started game one for the Rangers pitching five innings. During the five innings, Lawhon struck out seven allowing six hits and six runs. 
  • Blake Jones came in relief for Lawhon striking out three and allowing two runs. 
Game Changer
  • The Rangers and Bison were locked at 0s heading into the 3rd inning when the Bison scored on a fielder's choice. The Bison then added to their lead in the following inning making the score 4-0.
  • Oklahoma Baptist pitching shut out the Rangers at the plate only allowing two hits and twelve strikeouts. 
     





Leading Off - Game Two
Score: Northwestern 9 – Oklahoma Baptist 10 
Records: Northwestern (9-20, 6-9 GAC) – Oklahoma Baptist (19-6,11-4 GAC)
Location: Bison Field at Ford Park - Shawnee, Okla.

SHAWNEE, Okla– Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball late game rally was not enough to claim victory, the Rangers fell to the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist by a final game of the series by a score of 10-9. 

At The Plate
  • Thomas Bess, Matt Benn and Xyrus Martinez all collected two or more hits for the Rangers.
  • Xyruse Martinez had a great day at the plate tallying two hits and three RBIs in four at-bats. 
  • Matt Benn also recorded two hits and added three RBIs with one hit resulting in a homerun. 
The K Zone
  • Pat Delano started game two on the mound for the Rangers striking out two and allowing five hits through three innings. 
  • Dakota Stanek struck out one and only allowed one hit through 1.2 innings.
  • Zach Postoak finished the day for the Rangers allowing two hits and two strike outs through 1.2 innings. 

Game Changer
  • The Rangers jumped out on the Bison early to start the game as they took a 2-0 lead to the bottom of the 1st inning. However, the Bison answered back with four straight runs to claim the 4-2 lead. 
  • The Bison added to their lead in the bottom of the 4th as they scored three more runs to make the score 7-2 causing a Ranger pitching change.
  • A homerun by Matt Benn cut the Bison 7-4 lead to one in the 6th inning, the Rangers would later tie the game in the following inning. 


On Deck

The Rangers will return home to Alva, Okla. for their home series against Great American Conference opponent Southern Nazarene at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium March 25 and 26. First game is set to start at 6 p.m.
