Golden Suns Take Opening Two From Rangers

Leading Off - Game One
Score: Northwestern 0 - Arkansas Tech 8
Records: NW (10-39, 8-31 GAC) - ATU (42-6, 32-5 GAC)
Location: Chartwells Women's Sports Complex - Russellville, Ark.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was defeated in the opening game of the series by Great American Conference foe Arkansas Tech by a final score of 8-0 in five innings. 


At The Dish
  • The Rangers only produced one hit in this contest and it was Amber Mills who knocked a single to center field in the top of the third inning. 


The K Zone
  • Brittany Olender got the start in game one as she threw a total of 1.2 innings in the game allowing six earned runs on seven hits and gave up one walk.
  • Madison Garza and Karly Murray combined to pitch the final 2.1 innings of the match-up as well. 
     

Game Changer
  • The most prominent stat of this first contest was the explosive offense of Arkansas Tech who totaled 12 hits overall in the game compared to the one of Northwestern.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down in game number two of the day against the Golden Suns of ATU by a final score of 5-0. 


At The Dish
The K Zone
  • Madison Garza started in the circle for the black-and-red as she went 5.1 innings allowing five runs, eight hits, and was able to record two strikeouts. 
  • Karly Murray provided 0.2 innings of relief as she allowed zero hits and zero earned runs. 

     
Game Changer
  • Arkansas Tech once again was able to out hit the Rangers (8-3), but defensively Northwestern committed one error as well which aided in ATU's victory. 
     


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will conclude their series with the Golden Suns of ATU tomorrow, Saturday April 23, with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. in Russellville, Ark. This will also be the final regular season contests of 2016 for the Rangers.
