Carla Briscoe to Lead Ranger Soccer Program

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State University director of athletics Brad Franz has announced Carla Briscoe will take over as the new head coach for the Ranger Women's Soccer program. Briscoe becomes the seventh head coach in program history.

"We are very pleased with the hiring of Carla Briscoe as our head soccer coach. She was a valued assistant coach and is a tremendous teacher of the game, and she provides excellent leadership for the ladies on the team. She understands what it takes to be successful in the GAC, and we know her values align with Northwestern's," said Athletic Director Brad Franz.

Briscoe takes over the Ranger program after spending the previous three seasons as the assistant coach for Northwestern soccer. While with the Rangers, Briscoe helped lead the Northwestern program to a Great American Conference tournament berth in 2022.

"I'm incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to return to the Ranger Soccer program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. This time in a new role as head coach. I'm grateful to Dr. Hannaford and Coach Franz for believing in me and giving me the chance to lead this team. I also want to thank Alex Piekarski for bringing me in as his assistant three years ago; without that opportunity, I wouldn't be in this position today," stated head soccer coach Carla Briscoe.

In the previous three seasons, the Rangers have had 13 players each receive all-conference recognition, including one first-team all-conference player under Briscoe.

"Northwestern is a place that truly values both academic and athletic success, and I'm committed to upholding those standards. Our student-athletes will be held to high expectations on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. I'm excited to start this new chapter and can't wait to get to work" said Carla Briscoe.

While at Northwestern, Briscoe has experience as a professor in Psychology, teaching the academic course over the last year, helping students and athletes understand the psychological principles in sports.

Before Northwestern, Briscoe played college soccer at Tiffin University and Bloomfield College, along with soccer at North Missisauga Soccer Club, a club in the top league for female soccer in Ontario. At Tiffin University, she earned the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Second Team Academic All-Ohio selection, Tiffin University Academic Distinction Award, and Great Midwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

She has her Master's degree from Northwestern in General Psychology and a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
