Rangers Fall Against Southeastern in Doubleheader

Leading Off - Game One
Score: Southeastern 9 – Northwestern - 1

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was defeated in their opening match-up against Great American Conference member Southeastern Oklahoma State University Friday afternoon by a final score of 9-1.

At The Dish
  • Leading the Rangers on the offensive side of the ball was Jordan Haya who finished the game going 2-for-3, with one double and one RBI.
  • Audrey Estes and Peyton Garrett each record one hit a piece in the contest as well for the black-and-red. 

The K Zone
  • Jalena Arthur started off in the circle for Northwestern going a total of 6.0 innings, giving up two earned runs and tallying two strikeouts. 
  • Brittany Olender and Madison Garza provided combined relief for the final inning of the game with Garza racking up three strikeouts. 

Game Changer
  • The biggest difference maker in this contest was primarily in regards to offense as the Savage Storm out hit the Rangers 9-4. Southeastern was also able to draw a total of six walks during this game compared to Northwestern's zero.

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down in the second game of the day against Great American Conference member Southeastern Oklahoma State University Friday evening by a final score of 8-5.

At The Dish
  • Stephanie Couser led the offensive attack in the second contest of the day as she went on to finish 2-for-4, with one run scored, three RBIs, and one homerun. 
  • Peyton Garrett also had a solid day at the plate as she hit 3-for-4, with two runs scored, one double, and one RBI. 
     
The K Zone
  • Brittany Olender started things off for the black-and-red but only would go 1.2 innings, giving up two earned runs, three walks and struck out one. 
  • Madison Garza came in on relief to pitch 3.1 innings and gave up two earned runs as well on four total hits.
  • Finally Karly Murray threw a total of 2.0 innings in late relief and finished the evening giving up one earned run, two walks, and recorded two strikeouts. 
     

Game Changer
  • Walks were again an apparent stat in this second match-up of the day between these two squads as Southeastern was able to draw five total in the contest, compared to the zero Northwestern posted.
  • The Rangers also recorded three errors in the game which proved to be a difference maker as well as the game went on.  
 


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will continue their series against GAC opponent Southeastern Oklahoma State tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20 with another doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. at the Alva Rec Complex in Alva.
