Softball Drops Two at ECU in Doubleheader

ADA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down in the opening match-up of the four game series against East Central Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-1.

At The Dish
  • Leading the Northwestern offense in game one was Madison McGraw who finished going 1-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, and one homerun.
  • Amber Mills, Jordan Haya, and Lacey Hudson each recorded one hit a piece as well during the first match-up of the afternoon.

The K Zone
  • Madison Garza went the distance for the black-and-red in the circle as she totaled 6.1 innings, only giving up two earned runs, two walks, and struck out one batter.

Game Changer
  • Errors were costly for the visiting Rangers as they tallied two total on the day compared to East Central's one.
  • Despite leaving eight runners on base against Northwestern, who only left four on base, the Tigers were able to win the opening series game on a walk-off single to claim victory at 2-1.

ADA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was defeated in their second match-up of the day against East Central University by a final score of 8-3.

At The Dish
  • Stephanie Couser guided the Ranger offensive attack in game two going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
  • Jordan Haya and Amber Mills each recorded one RBI on the day as well.
  • Madison McGraw and Peyton Garrett added the team's other two hits in this contest with Garrett adding a run scored to her stat line.
  • Mills and Sarah Williams showed off their speed in the match-up with both recording one stolen base each.
The K Zone
  • Karly Murray started things off in the circle as she went 3.0 innings against the Tigers giving up four earned runs, four hits, and struck out two.
  • Madison Garza provided one scoreless inning of relief and Ashlye Poole threw the remaining 2.0 innings and gave up four earned runs herself on three hits while striking out two hitters.

Game Changer
  • ECU controlled this match-up through their ability to outhit the Rangers as they totaled nine in game two, compared to Northwestern's four.
  • The Tigers turned the tide of the game in the sixth inning when a grand slam homerun brought in four runs to push the home squad's lead out to 8-3 which would be enough for ECU to take the second game in the series.


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will continue their series with East Central University in Ada, Okla. tomorrow, Sunday Feb. 28 with a doubleheader and the first game beginning at 12 p.m.
