ADA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball notched their first Great American Conference win of the season Sunday afternoon in their first match-up of the day against East Central by a score of 3-1.

At The Dish
  • Aiding the Rangers at the plate in the first game of the day was Megan Sanders who had a huge homerun that would eventually lead to the Northwestern victory. Sanders went 1-for-3 on the day with one run scored, and one RBI as well.
  • Jordan Haya and Stephanie Couser each were able to add a run scored to the offensive effort also.
  • Peyton Garrett, Amber Mills, Taylor Watham, and Jordan Baughman each recorded one hit a piece in the contest to provide a spark on offense for the black-and-red.

The K Zone
  • Madison Garza went the distance yet again on day two of this series and earning herself a win in the process. Garza finished throwing 7.0 total innings, giving up zero earned runs, zero walks, and struck out one batter.

Game Changer
  • The blast over the wall by Sanders was certainly the offensive turning point in this match-up that eventually went on the seal the Rangers first GAC victory of the season.
  • Errors played their part in the first game of the day as well with each team tallying two errors, but East Central's would ultimately cost them both runs and the game.

Leading Off - Game Two
Score: Northwestern 0 - East Central 6
Records: Northwestern (2-14, 1-7 GAC) -
East Central (8-11, 5-3 GAC)
Location: Tiger Field - Ada, Okla.

ADA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was not able to complete the sweep in the final match-up against East Central Sunday afternoon as they were defeated in the final game of the series by the Tigers on the road, 6-0.

At The Dish
The K Zone
  • Karly Murray started in the circle for the Rangers as she too went the distance in the second game of the day, throwing 6.0 innings, only gave up three earned runs, and totaled a season high in strikeouts for Northwestern with six.

Game Changer
  • Multiple errors, three total, by Northwestern certainly created some difficulty in being able to stay in contention against the home team as East Central took full advantage of those mistakes.
  • The Tigers also outhit the black-and-red, 8-4, as they controlled the pace of this game with their offensive success.
