Northwestern Drops Two at Arkansas-Monticello

Leading Off - Game One

MONTICELLO, ARK. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was defeated in a close battle against Great American Conference adversary Arkansas-Monticello on the road by a final score of 4-3 in the first game of the series. 

At The Dish
  • Leading the Rangers at the plate was Jordan Haya who finished the day 1-for-2 with one run scored, one stolen base, three RBIs and one homerun. 
  • Amber Mills also recorded a hit in the contest for Northwestern as she went 1-for-3 with a run scored as well. 

The K Zone
  • Starting off in the circle in game one for the black-and-red was Madison Garza who went 5.0 innings giving up six hits, three earned runs, four walks, and struck out three batters.
  • Karly Murray came in on relief to throw the final inning giving up one run on one hit and struck out two. 

Game Changer
  • Defense played its role in this match-up as Northwestern finished the game with two total errors compared to the home team recording zero.
  • Arkansas-Monticello was able to control the pace of the game offensively for the Rangers as their starting pitcher tallied 11 total strikeouts in this series opener.

MONTICELLO, ARK. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was taken down in their second match-up of the day against the Blossoms of Arkansas-Monticello by a final score of 12-1. 

At The Dish
The K Zone
  • Karly Murray started things off for Northwestern and threw 2.0 innings allowing four total hits, five earned runs, and struck out two hitters. 
  • Madison Garza and Ashlye Poole combined to thorw the two final innings of the game also.
     

Game Changer
  • The Blossoms hit two grand slams in this match-up with proved to be a huge difference maker in the overall outcome.
  • Errors once again come into play for Northwestern as the Rangers committed two on the day compared to Arkansas-Monticello's zero. 
     


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will face GAC opponent Arkansas-Monticello tomorrow, March 6, in day two of the series with a doubleheader in Monticello, Ark. with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
