Softball Splits Day with Ouachita, Claims Series 3-1

Leading Off - Game One
Score: Northwestern 8 - Ouachita 7

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball took down Great American Conference opponent Ouachita Baptist by a final score of 8-7 on the road. 



At The Dish
  • Guiding the offensive charge for the Rangers in game one was Madison McGraw who went 2-for-3 with one run scored, three RBIs, and one double.
  • Megan Sanders also recorded two hits in the match-up going 2-for-4 with one run scored, two RBIs, and one double. 
  • Jordan Haya provided some power at the plate finishing 1-for-2 with two runs scored, one RBI, one stolen base, and one homerun. 
  • Peyton Garrett contributed a RBI to the Northwestern offense also as she went 1-for-2 with one run scored as well. 
     
The K Zone
  • Madison Garza started things off in the circle for Northwestern in game one as she threw 4.2 total innings allowing six earned runs and struck out three hitters.
  • Karly Murray would relieve Garza and toss 2.1 innings only giving up one earned run on two hits and was able to strike out three in earning her third win this season. 
     

Game Changer
  • This contest was a back and forth battle between the two programs as there was four lead changes and and three ties in the first of two games. 
  •  Northwestern was able to finally break through and not only tie things up in the top of the 6th inning but take the lead as well after Sanders got things started with a two run double to left center. McGraw finished up the inning with another double down the left field line to score two additional runs which pushed the black-and-red lead out to 8-6.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball was downed in the final game of the series against GAC foe Ouachita Baptist by a final score of 9-8 in walk-off fashion. 



At The Dish
  • Amber Mills had herself a game in match-up number two as she finished hitting 2-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBIs, and one homerun.
  •  Stephanie Couser added multiple hits to the Ranger stat line with her 2-for-4 day along with two RBIs, and one double.
  • Peyton Garrett, Lacey Hudson, and Megan Sanders each recorded two hits a piece and each added one RBI a piece to the black-and-red offensive effort as well.
     
The K Zone
  • Karly Murray started in the circle for the black-and-red and threw a total of 5.1 innings and only allowed three earned runs on five hits and was able to strike out one.
  • Erin Norrie and Ashlye Pool each provided relief appearances for the Rangers but unfortunately ended in a combined effort of 1.1 innings, allowing six total earned runs. 

     
Game Changer
  • This contest, much like the first of today, featured very competitive play between the two squads and the scoreboard resembled such. Northwestern was able to open the scoring up a bit in the top of the 6th with a Mills homerun to left center, giving the visitors the 5-2 advantage. 
  • The Rangers added to the scoring total even more in the top of the 7th with doubles by both Couser and Hudson to see the black-and-red hold an 8-3 lead, heading to the bottom half of the final inning.
  • However Ouachita battled back and two 3-run homeruns were hit by the Tigers, with the second being a walk-off winner, to give the home team the 9-8 victory. 
     


On Deck
Northwestern Oklahoma State Softball will host GAC adversary Henderson State next weekend starting Friday April 8 as a part of a four game series against the Reddies starting at 4 p.m. at the Alva Rec Complex.
