A standout on the Ranger softball team from 2006 to 2009, Dana Gandolfo Mitrovic became one of the best players in the nation at the NAIA level and the only Ranger softball player to receive the NAIA All-American award. A native of Vancouver, Canada, Mitrovic graduated from Terry Fox Secondary School and committed to play softball for Northwestern. Under the direction of head coach Cody Hooper, she excelled as an outfielder and her ability to get on base. After three spectacular years, she had found her place in the record books.
One of Mitrovic's most outstanding records includes having the all-time single season batting average of .432. She was known as a team player whose teammates depended on her to score runs. As a senior, she posted a .750 slugging percentage and had a total of 111 bases. Mitrovic struck out only four times in 148 at bats during her senior season in 2009. She hit an impressive nine home runs and amassed awards at the conference, regional and national level. She was named First Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference Outfielder for two consecutive seasons, First Team All-Region, NAIA Player of the Week and First Team NAIA All-American.
Coach Cody Hooper says, "Dana is the only player who I coached at the college level to bat four times and get on four different ways- without being walked or hit by a pitch. Dana was a tremendous players and person and that's why she's at the top of numerous categories for Northwestern Softball." Mitrovic graduated in 2009 and earned her bachelor's degree in History.
Today, she is an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevators and resides with her spouse Inya Mitrovic in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.
