Loyd Stout is a 1949 graduate whose time at Northwestern was interrupted by World War II. He began his career in 1942, before leaving to answer the nation’s call. After the war he returned for his final three seasons.
 
Stout was a three-time all-conference selection and captained the Rangers’ run to the 1949 national tournament. He was also a member of the Northwestern baseball team.
 
After graduation Stout enjoyed a highly-successful coaching career that included numerous championships at Cherokee High School.
