Regi Clark, a 1994 graduate, is one of four Clark brothers to don a Ranger basketball uniform in the 1990s, making a Clark brother a member of the team for 11 years. Rodger (1993), Rodney (1996) and Ryan (2001) all played for the Rangers.
Clark started in every game for four seasons when the team went 85-24, won two conference championships and made two national tournament appearances. He is considered one of the best defensive players to ever wear a Ranger uniform.
He is the school’s 11th all-time leading scorer with 1,124 career points, and during his senior year, he captained the 29-2 team, which is the best record in school history. Clark holds the career steals record with 175 and was named the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player all four years. He also was named to the All-OIC second team during his junior and senior years and was on the honorable mention list as a sophomore.
“Regi was as tough a player mentally as you could ever coach,” Battisti said. “I never had to
worry about our team’s courage when Regi was in uniform. He convinced all; one man with courage makes a majority. He truly was a fierce competitor with courage.”
After graduating from Northwestern in 1994, Clark took a position at The Colorado College as assistant men’s basketball coach. Following that season, Clark moved over to head the women’s basketball program where he coached the two best women’s teams in 10 years.
From 1997 to 1999 he worked at Woodlake Hills Middle School as the in-school suspension coordinator. From 1999 to 2001, he was a case manager for victims of violent crimes. He currently is a physical education coach and in-school suspension coordinator at Mary Lou Hartman Elementary School in Converse, Texas.
