Jim Schroeder, a native of Fairview, was one of the greatest basketball players ever to wear a Ranger uniform.
           
He played for Northwestern from 1962-66 and ended his career with 1,315 points, which at the time was the school scoring record. He now ranks fifth on the all-time scoring list.
           
Schroeder was an All-OIC selection during his junior and senior years when he averaged more than 17 points per game. During his senior season, he ranked fifth in the NAIA in free throw shooting with an 88.2 percent mark.
           
He also led a resurgence in Northwestern basketball during is senior season, helping the Rangers to a 15-9 record in 1965-66, the first winning season in four years. The season included a road win over NAIA champion Oklahoma Baptist University.
           
Schroeder is now a senior vice president with Guaranty Bank in Oklahoma City.
