Stewart Arthurs is a 1962 graduate who excelled both on the playing field and in the classroom. He was a three-sport star in football, basketball and track for the Rangers. Arthurs’ 2,495 rushing yards and 41 career touchdowns stood for many years as school records, as did his single-season mark of 15 touchdowns. He was a three-time First Team All-Oklahoma Collegiate Conference pick and a two-time NAIA All-American. Off the field, he served as Student Government President. Arthurs is currently the namesake of the Stewart Arthurs Award, given to student-athletes in any sports who complete all four years of eligibility in a Northwestern uniform. Arthurs graduated from the University Of Oklahoma School Of Law in 1966. He currently owns a law practice in Cushing.
