Cody Hooper was a four-year starting pitcher for the Ranger baseball program from 1982 to 1985 and anchored the starting staff as the team’s ace. He was known for being one of District 9’s best pitchers.

Named a first-team All-Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher in 1985, Hooper remains in Northwestern’s top five in strikeouts, innings pitched and wins (10) in a single season.

Hooper graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Northwestern in 1985, a bachelor’s degree in education in 1991 and a master’s in secondary education in 2002.

After graduating, Hooper spent 30 years in education and coached at the Oklahoma schools of Mooreland, Wakita, Duke, Hydro-Eakley and Alva. He is currently the high school softball coach at Drummond, Okla.

In 2001, Hooper returned to his alma mater to start the softball program. Over the next 13 years, he accumulated 338 wins. His teams played in the Sooner Athletic Conference against the toughest NAIA teams in the country. He coached 42 All-Conference selections, two All-Region performers, one All-American and two Northwestern Sports Hall of Fame members.

Several of his players hold the season and career Northwestern softball records. Hooper helped lead the Rangers to six seasons of 30 or more wins and appeared in two Region VI tournaments with the team.
