Sherina Wood staged an All-American women’s soccer career at Northwestern between 2002 and 2005, finishing as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 75 goals.

Wood – a forward and midfielder from Ponca City - joined the program in its second season of existence in 2002 and quickly helped transform the Rangers into big winners. She led them to back-to-back Regional Tournament appearances beginning in 2003 and helped clinch the school’s first-ever conference title as a junior in 2004.  Wood was a three-time All-Region selection, winning Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2003 and Regional Player of the Year distinction in 2004.

The 2004 team set a school record, going 16-3-2, while posting an unbeaten conference mark of 6-0-1. They dropped a pair of heartbreakers in penalty kicks to Oklahoma Christian during the championship rounds of both the conference and regional tournaments, finishing just shy of the school’s first-ever national tournament bid.

Wood – an honorable mention All-American in 2002 and 2003 – earned Third-Team All-America status as a junior in 2004.

She netted a single-season school record 24 goals during the 2003 season and also holds Northwestern’s season marks for points (53 in 2003), points per game (2.58 in 2002), goals per game (1.21 in 2002), game winning goals (7 in 2004), shots (88 in 2004), shots on goal (56 in 2004). Wood also holds career marks for points (160), shots per game (2.03), goals per game (0.95) and shots (220).

Wood currently resides in Norman, where she works as a Day Care provider. She describes her four years at Northwestern as an “Awesome experience. From the first year picking weeds for a soccer field to the last year, we were a crazy family riding that crazy bus.”
